The ‘Women of the West Coast: Celebrating Diversity’ series explores the beauty of diversity in ethnicities and the female form. I wanted to convey female empowerment, feeling grounded and in the moment, confidence in one’s own skin, and a connectedness with nature. Each painting is of a woman that I photographed at various beach locations in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I was inspired by their individual stories, as well as their kindness, intelligence, creativity, and strength. I loved capturing each of their unique and beautiful traits, such as tattoos, stretch marks, and freckles. I hope this series inspires other women to lift each other up.
